APPROACH
APPROACH
I use research, human-centered design, and systems thinking to make complicated problems easier to understand—and easier to act on. The process is rigorous, collaborative, and grounded in the reality of the people who will actually live with what we create.
The goal is not more ideas.
It is better decisions.
My role is often to help a team move from scattered information and competing priorities to shared understanding, a clear direction, and something that can be implemented.
HOW I WORK
From ambiguity
to action.
There is no one-size-fits-all workshop or predetermined set of deliverables. I adapt the process to the problem while keeping four things constant: understanding, framing, designing, and making the work usable.
01 / UNDERSTAND
Listen to the people involved, study the context, gather existing evidence, and identify the forces shaping what is happening now.
Research · Interviews · Observation · Discovery · Systems mapping
02 / FRAME
Synthesize what we are learning, surface patterns and tensions, and create a shared understanding of the challenge worth solving.
Synthesis · Insight development · Opportunity framing · Prioritization
03 / DESIGN
Develop possibilities collaboratively, test assumptions early, and shape strategies, services, experiences, or systems around real needs.
Co-creation · Prototyping · Strategy · Experience design · Facilitation
04 / IMPLEMENT
Translate the thinking into decisions, tools, structures, plans, and next steps that can survive beyond the engagement.
Roadmaps · Tools · Systems · Activation · Measurement
A workshop because “we should engage stakeholders”
A strategy document that sits on a shelf
A new brand pasted over an old experience
A collection of ideas without ownership or next steps
Research presented without a path to action
Research connected directly to decisions
Participation designed around meaningful influence
Strategy grounded in people, place, and constraints
Design that considers the system around the artifact
A clear bridge between insight and implementation
01
The people closest to a system know things the data cannot show. Their experience is evidence, not anecdote to be politely acknowledged and ignored.
02
Research is not a box to check before arriving at the idea we already had. What we learn should be allowed to change the question, the direction, and the outcome.
03
Engagement is valuable when people can see where their input goes. I design participation around decisions that genuinely have room to move.
04
A solution that cannot live inside the real constraints of an organization or community is not finished. Feasibility belongs in the design process from the beginning.
PRINCIPLES
Human-centered work should feel human while it is happening—not only after the final recommendation is delivered.
Understand what is.
Design what could be.
Build what can last.
WAYS TO WORK TOGETHER
FOCUSED
For teams that need to understand people, context, needs, barriers, or opportunities before deciding what to do next.
Interviews · Research · Synthesis ·Insights · Collaborative
For organizations or communities working through a complex challenge that requires shared direction and thoughtful participation.
Facilitation · Strategy · Systems · Co-creation · End-to-end
For work that needs to move beyond recommendations into an experience, service, brand, program, or system that can actually operate.
Design · Roadmapping · Activation · Measurement
A USEFUL DISTINCTION
The visual artifact may be part of the outcome. But the deeper work is helping people understand the system well enough to change it.
01
Understand
Listen closely, map the system, surface patterns, and uncover the real problem beneath the obvious one.
02
Frame
Turn complexity into a shared point of view, a clear opportunity, and a direction people can act on.
03
Design
Develop ideas, experiences, strategies, and systems with the people who will actually live with them.
04
Implement
Translate the work into tools, decisions, structures, and next steps that can hold up in the real world.
