Community Garden Project
The purpose of the Radford City project was a case study examining the hypothesis, "if you give people food, art, and nature you can grow a resilient community".
Get the Radford Farmers Market self-running.
Get a mural in Wildwood Park.
Start a community garden space.
The Radford Farmers market has grown from 10 - 12 full-time vendors to over 30 year-round members.
Radford Farmers Market awareness went from many in the community not knowing of the farmers market to becoming weekly patrons, increasing foot traffic over 150%.
Due to the Wildwood Park Mural Project Wildwood Park has seen a significant increase in foot traffic, cleanliness, and awareness to one Radford City's greatest hidden gems.
Although the Three Sisters Garden is no longer active, the initative has grown into one of the Three Sisters (Katie McFall) starting her own native landscaping business- helping residents throughout Virginia grow their own food and turn their landscapes into a native oasis. This initative has also lead to several festivals highlighting Appalachian Culture & Cuisine at Nesselrod on the New.
